The pizzicato techniques discussed here have been adapted from guitar and upright jazz bass usage. Three types of articulation are explained step-by-step in order of their first appearance in example 1 below. When you can handle the basics in examples 1 and 2 you will be ready to read the arrangement of the blues/spiritual Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child. Following that are two more grooves. With practice these techniques can feel and sound as effortless as (and maybe even more natural than) orthodox cello techniques.
