/ Cellocelli Workshops
Welcome to the online presence of the Cleveland Cello School. This is a resource for students and parents for any information needed regarding lessons and policies.
The Cleveland Cello School program is focused on providing students of all ages with the structure and guidance needed to develop as musicians and people. My approach to teaching is based on my own experience as a young Suzuki student, Suzuki pedagogy lessons with Tanya Carey, study at the University of Michigan and New England Conservatory with Erling Blondal Bengtsson, Laurence Lesser and Colin Carr, and years of insight gleaned from observing and collaborating with colleagues.
My goal as a teacher is to help students develop a strong sense of character and discipline, fine tune problem- solving skills, and strengthen their ability to communicate and express themselves through music.
The primary components in working toward this goal are weekly private lessons, weekly group classes, and daily individual time
with the instrument.
Consistency and the existence of a nurturing environment are two of the most important ingredients to learning and are a primary focus with students and parents.

Tuition is due in full at first lesson or may be paid in two installments due Week 1 and Week 9.
Cancellation policy
Should a student anticipate missing their scheduled lesson time, they must give the teacher a courtesy notification of at least 24hrs.
Any rescheduling will be at the discretion of the teacher based upon availability.
Make-up weeks are placed in the semester to facilitate potential need of the teacher to reschedule due to performance commitments or other obligations.
Cellocelli Alternative Cello Workshops
Intensive weekend workshops focused on cultivating alternative and non-classical cello skills.
Cleveland, OH - Saturday, June 20, 2009 (half day)
Ann Arbor, MI - Saturday & Sunday, June 27/28, 2009 (two day workshop)

Sessions build upon one another and will explore:
- • strumming and "counterpoint" pizzicato techniques
- • creating bass lines and rhythmic accompanying parts
- • developing improvisation skills
- • use of looping hardware and software to overlay multiple parts
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to use their new skills in a cello ensemble and perform music for cello by Astor Piazzolla and Dave Brubeck. The workshop will feature a faculty concert that incorporates the skills developed over the weekend.
