Technically, the minor “passing tones” are a chromatically descending movement, usually in the bass, from the root to the 6th. “Passing tones” have been used by everyone from Bach to the Beatles and beyond. They have been with us for centuries. On another level, it's a great sound. This piece is one of my explorations into “passing tones.” The dictionary defines pastime as “something that serves to make time pass agreeably.” I hope you find it so. - Bob McGuire
